Introduction
In 2026, the Chappaquiddick Island Association (CIA) is pleased to offer $23,000 in grant funding to support projects that further its mission. Grant awards may be made in any amount and in any number, at the discretion of the CIA Board. Grant funds must be used within 18 months of award and are subject to the CIA’s annual reporting requirement.
Each Applicant / Grantee must either be a CIA member or have a sponsor who is a CIA member. Applicants who need assistance finding a sponsor may contact a board member at ChappyCIA@gmail.com.
Applications must be submitted by email to this address no later than April 30, 2026. They will be evaluated based on how well they align with the Association’s mission and the work of its committees. Applicants will be notified of the decision via email by July 1, 2026
Mission
- To promote the welfare, and operate in the best interests of, the Island of Chappaquiddick and those who make it their permanent or seasonal home
- To preserve the beauty and charm of the island
- To maintain its ecological and environmental character by directing progress into channels that retain its uniqueness without causing hardship to its residents

- Open Space Committee – Oversees land use and preservation efforts. Chair – Cynthia Hubbard
- Environment Committee – Focuses on ecological protection and sustainability initiatives. Chair – Alan Feldman
- Transportation Committee – Addresses transportation access, safety, and infrastructure. Chair – Jim Boyer
- Barrier Beach Committee – Monitors and advocates for shoreline and barrier beach preservation. Chair – Ed Pla
- Traditions & Welcoming Committee – Promotes community engagement and social connection. Co-Chairs – Noni Lindahl and Ashley Harmon
- Insiders Guide Team – Develops and maintains the informational guide for residents and visitors. Chair – TBD
- Chappy CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) – Supports community safety and emergency preparedness. Chair – Pete Taft
- Water Resources Committee – Focuses on water quality, conservation, and coastal resiliency. Chair – John Dropick
